A new Mayflower ship will set sail in September 2020 to mark the 400th anniversary of the original Mayflower voyage in 1620, but this time with a 21st century twist. IBM and marine research organisation Promare have created the Mayflower Autonomous Ship which will use an ‘AI Captain’ to self-navigate across the Atlantic from Plymouth, UK to Plymouth, Massachusetts with no humans on board.
