Stock market today: BSE Sensex closes 110 points up; Nifty50 above 24,450

Stock market today: BSE Sensex continued its upward trend for the fourth consecutive day, gaining 110 points on Wednesday, supported by positive movements in HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank shares, along with sustained foreign investment. The main index closed at 80,956.33, after reaching a high of 81,245.39 during trading hours.
The NSE Nifty registered a modest increase of 10.30 points, finishing at 24,467.45.
Among Sensex constituents, significant gains were recorded by HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finserv, NTPC, Titan, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finance and ICICI Bank.
The declining shares included Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors, Adani Ports, Power Grid, Maruti, ITC, Reliance Industries and UltraTech Cement.
Foreign institutional investors demonstrated renewed confidence by investing Rs 3,664.67 crore in equities on Tuesday, as per exchange records.
In Asian markets, Tokyo showed positive results, whilst Seoul, Shanghai and Hong Kong declined. European markets displayed predominantly positive trends, and US markets closed largely higher on Tuesday.
A monthly survey revealed that India’s services PMI decreased to 58.4 in November, although employment in the sector showed substantial growth.
The international oil benchmark Brent crude increased by 0.34 per cent to USD 73.91 per barrel.
On Tuesday, the BSE Sensex had risen by 597.67 points to close at 80,845.75, whilst the Nifty advanced by 181.10 points to reach 24,457.15.
